Skylar Park

Short Bio: I’m an artist who loves to widen my variety of medias. Doing all types, and trying new thing but my most favorite one would be painting which is my main media for most of my work!

Full Bio: My name is Skylar Park. I’m twenty one years old, and I’ve been doing art ever since I was six. I’ve always dreamed of being an art teacher one day, so I could express my love of art to future students in hope to share the same love for it. My work consists of a lot of paintings with mediums of oils and acrylic. I widen my range with other types of work. Like sculpting, drawing, and collage. I currently live in Dublin, Ohio, and always have ever since I was born Dublin, a place I’ve known all my life, but I always love to travel outside of my hometown and that’s where I like to say I get half my inspiration from. A lot of my work does deal with how I perceive things, symbolism, and just seeing the beauty of things around me. The key thing that really shows a lot in my art is the things I see directly, and represent a core memory for me. As an example I’ve painted many portraits of my pets as they’ve always shown to be a core memory for me. Like to say that most of my pets were always there for me when I needed the most support. Man’s best friend to sum is up. I always love to use a lot of symbolism in my art, kind of like a puzzle for my viewer to solve on their own.

My artwork deals a lot with living in the moment and abstract meaning. The world of building castles in air. Growing up I’ve always thought drawing was my way of expressing my world, but when I was introduced to painting in my late high school years I then found out that painting gave me this whole new freedom of expression with such a natural flow to it. I’ve used acrylic, oils and watercolors for my art works. I’ve even gone outside the box, and done collages, sculptures, and even photography. I love to say my art is my way to communicate my progress of learning how to truly live. Being able to accept the fact that I shouldn’t have to worry about what is gone, and what hasn’t happened yet but to see what is right in front of me. My abstract comes with my style of work. Being able to paint, or sculpt freely through my true expression. Allowing my emotions to take over the brush; which is why my style is my own. The feeling of no limitations to what I can create. Leaving the viewer to see that each piece of the painting has some kind piece of who I am, and how I view the world through my own lenses.
