20th Annual Historic Dublin Paint Out & Wet Sale

The Paint Out Competition will be on September 16, 2023

Come on out and enjoy a fun day in Dublin.

Don’t miss the Paint Out wet sale from 3-4:30 pm in front of the library. All artworks completed that day will be on view and available for purchase.

Jurying will take place on the same day, shortly after 3pm.

About the Juror:  Joe Lombardo is an oil Painter from Columbus, Ohio. Lombardo is represented by Art Access Gallery, Columbus, Ohio and ​Center Gallery, Glen Arbor, Michigan.

Paint Out wet sale

There will be a wet sale of all entries with paintings for sale to the public on that day, until 4:30 pm.

Paintings must turned in no later than 3 pm, those turned in earlier can be made available for purchase as soon as they are turned in.

Paintings can not be picked up before 4:30 pm, even if not for sale.

The Rules

The registration table will be in Historic Dublin by the Library, at 75 N High Street, Dublin, OH.

    1. Stamping. Get your support stamped before your start painting. You hold it, a DAAL volunteer will safely stamp with minimal contact.
      – Artist may get several BLANK supports stamped and pay only one entry fee of $15. (monochromatic toning is allowed)
      – If at the end of the day artists want to submit multiple entries, he/she has to pay an extra $10 per additional entry.
      – We start the registration and stamping at 9 am. You are welcome to arrive earlier and scout a place to paint, start making value studies, but keep your support blank for until stamping (uniform toning is acceptable).
    2. Cost: The entry fee is $15.00 for the first entry, $10 for any extra entry (you’ll pay the extra-entry fee at the end of the day, when you turn in). We recommend paying the entry fee in advance.
    3. Where: Artists are allowed to set up their easels anywhere in the Dublin area, preferably on streets where the public may enjoy their work. Yes, you are allowed to cross the new pedestrian bridge. 🙂
    4. Subject matter: Paint what you see. No painting from photos.
    5. All 2D media except photography is allowed. All styles will be considered and will be judged on the merit of the final work.
    6. Important: All paintings must be turned in, completed and framed (or wired for hanging), by 3 pm. Wet paintings, drawings, and watercolors must be framed. Unframed canvases are allowed, but must be dry and wired to hang.
    7. Supplies: bring your own.
    8. Age: 16+.
    9. Judging: The juror will judge the entries after 3 pm on the same day.
    10. Prizes:  Best of Show $200, funded by the Dublin Arts Council. 1st Place $100, 2nd Place $75, 3rd Place $50.
    11. Pre-registration will make lines shorter and safer on the day of the event. Pre-register below.
    12. Free snacks and water will be available to all participants.
    13. Pick up your painting at 4:30 pm. All paintings must go at the end of the day, either to your home or the buyer’s. If you can’t pick up at 4, please make arrangements with a friend or fellow artist.
